Utilisation fee on cars will change car market in Belarus

On March 1^st, the utilisation fee mechanism will take effect, entailing changes in the price of cars assembled in Russia.

De facto, the regulation bans import of cars, older than 3 years and changes import duties paid by individuals. Some car importers will seize their activities in Belarus, people will either start importing cars from the EU individually, or will be buying cars assembled in Russia in dealer showrooms in Russia. Sales by authorised car-dealers will drop, except those assembled in Belarus (Geely, Zotya).
