Belarusians should forget about subsidies for housing and communal services

By 2016, the government plans to stop subsidising electricity, gas and some other utility tariffs for the population.

As a result, in 2015 the housing and utility tariffs for the population will double in costs. The state will enhance its control over energy industry enterprises in terms of costs formation. The structure of people’s spending might change and their interest in energy-saving might increase. The most socially vulnerable groups of people might still pay less for some services, however social norms of consumption may be revised downwards.
