Call for articles about Belarus

Gare de l’Est is a French newsmagazine that will be launched in January 2013 and then published in libraries in a biannual rhythm, as the paper version of a radio programme that has been existing for more than 5 years already on a French radio. The main purpose is to give access to French and French-speaking readers to first-hand information concerning countries of post-Soviet space that is not covered by traditional media in France.

Interested professional journalists from Belarus who would like to submit an article for publication in the first issue (to be published in January 2013) are invited to send a proposal for article, including a 10-line description of the article and a short CV of the author. Topics must relate to current developments in Belarus in either the political, economic or cultural sphere.

Proposals for articles must be sent in English or French by Monday 12 November noon to redaction@garedelest.org

The editorial team will select the topic by Wednesday 14 November.

The article can be drafted in Russian, English, German or French, must comprise between 3000 and 4000 words and should not have been published in another written or online media. Remuneration per article is 150 euro. Timetable:

– Deadline for submission of the article: Friday 23 November

– Final version to be send to Gare de l’Est: Friday 29 November
