Press Club Belarus: Award-winning Belarusian lessons

On October 24th, at 5 pm, Press Club Belarus’ next meeting will be with Katsiarina Kibalchich, Belarusian Dream film director and ‘Mowa ci Kawa’ project author.

Katsiarina Kibalchich, will present the project ‘Mowa ci Kawa’ [Language or Coffee] – courses in Belarusian which are specially tailored for fellow Belarusians (the majority of whom are Russian speakers). In addition to talking about her latest initiative, Katsiarina will give a small demonstration of a lesson.

Mowa ci Kawa’ has proven a success in Moscow and Minsk. Lessons take place in an informal atmosphere, over a cup of coffee, using interactive methods and often involving Belarusian-speaking public figures. Importantly, ‘Mowa ci Kawa’ also gives people a chance to spend time in a Belarusian-speaking environment.

Katsiarina Kibalchich is also the author of the award-winning documentary film ‘Belarusian Dream’ about life in a dictatorship. She is a journalist at Russia’s First Channel and in 2010 was awarded the ‘Russian Golden Pen’ award for her reports on elections in Belarus. ‘Mowa ci kawa’ received an award in the ‘I love Belarus – 2013’ competition.

We look forward to seeing you at Dom Polonii, ul. Krakowskie Przedmieście 64 on Thursday, October 24th at 5 pm.

The meeting will be in Polish and Belarusian.
