Minsk: presentation of the book ‘Belarus in Focus: Through the Eyes of International Journalists’

On June 20th, 2012 , at 5.30 pm at the Belarusian PEN Centre (Zalataya Gorka street 2-101), a presentation of the book ‘Belarus in Focus: Through the Eyes of International Journalists’ will take place.

‘Belarus in Focus’ is a compilation of articles from an international competition for professional and citizen journalists writing about Belarus (www.focus.solidarityby.eu), held by Solidarity with Belarus Information Office in cooperation with Press Club Polska in 2011.

The book contains fourteen articles by authors from eight countries (Belarus, Germany, Latvia, United States, United Kingdom, Poland, Slovenia, Spain) about Belarus in 2011, as well as photographs by Belarusian photoreporters. The book is in English and in Belarusian.

A discussion will be held on how to improve the visibility of Belarus in the international media.

‘Belarus in Focus:Through the Eyes of International Journalists’ was first presented during a series of roundtables and press conferences held by Solidarity with Belarus Information Office (Brussels, Berlin, Warsaw, Budapest, Prague) in May 2012.

A presentation of the book will take place on 20th June, 7pm, at the PEN Centre, Zalataya Gorka 2-101, Minsk.

Guest speakers will include Andrej Dynko, editor-in-chief of Nasha Niva, and a member of competition panel, andPolona Frelih, a journalist based in Moscow writing for the Slovenian daily newspaper Delo, and a winner of the competition Belarus in Focus. Other guest speakers to be confirmed.

The presentation will take place in Belarusian/Russian. English translation will be available if necessary.
